Gorilla Circus: RPM heads to the Market Place as part of our spectacular summer season

This July, Gorilla Circus are heading to Newbury to perform their new outdoor show, RPM all on our doorstep in the Market Place, as part of our summer season programme.
Set on a giant moving treadmill, this phenomenal new show will combine acrobatics, roller skating and street dance to explore the UK’s colonial past. Gorilla Circus is an independent, contemporary circus company who deliver interactive, large-scale performances across the country for all ages.
This mesmerising production seeks to explore some of the tragic and absurd aspects of UK society, looking at conflicts between the past and the present, and asking if we have ever really confronted our colonial past? Through their incredible circus skills and roller skating, Gorilla Circus promises an adrenaline-fuelled evening that investigates the UK’s troubled history.

Gorilla Circus was founded in 2009 by a former flying trapeze artist with the goal to create innovative and imaginative work that tells important, real-life stories with strong narratives surrounding global issues. All set on eye-catching custom-made structures from ziplines to treadmills they focus on making magical and thought-provoking work.
We’re excited to bring Gorilla Circus back to Newbury having supported them with artistic residencies at 101 Outdoor Arts on Greenham Business Park over many years. This new show RPM centres around an exciting large treadmill creating a dramatic and captivating performance full of electric moments!
