Fresh films coming to the Corn Exchange Newbury Cinema this August

We've got blockbuster hits and award-winning indie picks, take a look below at some of the films coming up this August.

The Summer Book (PG)

Starring Glenn Close, follow the powerful story of Sophia and her grandmother as they spend the summer on an island in the Gulf of Finland. Coming to terms with the loss of Sophia's mother, their relationship grows stronger through time spent in each other's company.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day (12A)

Get ready for the latest instalment from the much-loved friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man (Tom Holland)! Since Doctor Strange's spell erased everyone's memories, including his girlfriend MJ (Zendaya), Peter Parker is learning to live life in a world that doesn't remember him, when a mysterious change starts to alter his powers.

Holy Days (12A)

When a young boy called Brian discovers a convent of nuns is going to be shut down, he follows them on a wild journey to New Zealand. Starring Miriam Margolyes, this is a heartwarming tale about faith, family and finding hope in unexpected places.

Tony (2026) (15)

Based on the life of renowned chef Anthony Bourdain (Dominic Sessa), follow the start of his career at a lively restaurant in Provincetown, setting off a summer that will shape the course of his life. Rather than covering his fame, the film focuses on his coming-of-age in the rough, high-energy world of kitchen life, exploring themes of mentorship, identity and passion.

& Sons (15)

The estranged sons of a novelist (Bill Nighy) come together when invited to his home after he becomes convinced his life is coming to an end. With their captive ears, he begins to tell them a crazy story from his deathbed.

Throughout August, under-19s can get £5 tickets for our cinema screenings*, for the films shown above and more (*excluding Event Cinema).
