Poludnica by Michaela Cisarikova
Inspired by the Slavic legend of the Noon Witch, Poludnica unfolds beneath the relentless midday sun, under which a field of wheat breathes, bends and remembers. Blending folk, & hip hop influences with contemporary movement; the work explores the shifting boundary between labour, ritual and myth. As the harvest progresses, rising heat blurs perception and an unseen and dangerous presence gradually emerges. Rooted in folklore, yet echoing the growing fragility of our relationship with the natural world, Poludnica invites the audience into a landscape where wind, wheat, and memory link ancient fears to urgent present concerns.
