Newbury Sounds - Meet the Bands: The Liaisons

Get to know the bands who will be performing at our next fundraising event, Newbury Sounds!

Our next fundraising event for the Old Library Campaign is now just under a month away (Saturday 30 August)! We have spoken to each of the bands performing on the night to learn more about them and what to expect from their performance at Newbury Sounds

Next up are The Liaisons. Here's what they had to say:

What genre of music do you play?

Real music. Passion. Heart. Soul.

Who is your band’s biggest musical inspiration?

From Iggy Pop to The Libertines, via Morrissey, the View among many others. We’ve got an eclectic mix in the band of favourite artists, so that always helps to bring new ideas and new direction.

What’s the song you’re most excited to play at Newbury Sounds?

Argentina, Argentina, Argentina! (just called Argentina and it’s written about Iggy's broken little heart) Just you wait. First song we wrote after we FINALLY got a rhythm guitar, Mr Lewis Laing in, to free up our El Capitano Jimmy Jarvis on lead to do the jingly jangly acute indie bits we always wanted. We are in business now.

Do you have any memories connected to the Corn Exchange?

Yeah actually Iggy does. Played a £30 acoustic there for Falkland School year 4 concert. Hasn’t touched one since after that horror show! He blames the recorder players. Hope the crowds more enthusiastic on Saturday 30th. Cos we can’t wait to see ya. God bless.
